REGULATIONS OF CENTRE FOR RESEARCH ON CHILDREN’S AND YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE AT THE FACULTY OF LETTERS, AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WROCŁAW

PREAMBLE

The Centre for Research on Children’s and Young Adult Literature / Centrum Badań Literatury dla Dzieci I Młodzieży (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) is cocreated by employees of the University of Wrocław who conduct research on, archive or popularize literature for children and young adults. 

§1 GENERAL PROVISIONS

1) The Centre is a unit of the Faculty of Letters established by the Rector of the University of Wrocław in Regulation No. 135/2017.

2) The Centre shall operate in its registered office at ul. Kuźnicza 21-22 in Wrocław.

3) The Regulations of the Centre (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”) shall define the tasks, the organisational structure, the procedure for appointing the internal bodies and the rules for the functioning of the Centre.

4) The Centre for Literature Studies for Children and Young People has the organisational symbol “CBLDM”.

5) The Centre may use the English name “The Centre for Research on Children’s and Young Adult Literature”.

6) The Centre is under the authority of the Dean of the Faculty of Letters.

§2 TASKS

The basic tasks of the Centre shall be:

1) to support the individual and collective scientific activities of the members and collaborators of the Centre in the field of children’s and young adult  literature,

2) to organise scientific events related to children’s and young adult  literature,

3) to cooperate with research units of a similar profile, cultural institutions and schools in Poland and abroad,

4) to disseminate knowledge about children’s and young adult literature.

§3 FINANCING OF ACTIVITIES

The Centre’s activities are financed from the following sources:

1) external sources,

2) the funds at the disposal of the Faculty of Letters.

§4 ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

The Centre is managed by a Coordinator appointed and dismissed by the Rector at the request of the Dean of the Faculty of Letters, as advised by the Faculty Council.

The Centre has the Programme Advisory Board and the Scientific Advisory Board appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Letters at the request of the Coordinator.

COORDINATOR

1) The Coordinator of the Centre may be a member of the Programme Advisory Board.

2) The candidate for the Coordinator shall be proposed by the Programme Advisory Board.

3) The function of the Coordinator shall be for a term of office and may be renewed for a maximum of one term.

4) The term of office of the Coordinator shall be four years and shall coincide with the term of office of the University authorities.

5) The basic tasks of the Coordinator include:

a) coordinating the activities of the Programme Advisory Board and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Centre,

b) representing the Centre at external events,

c) taking decisions under regulations or special provisions not reserved for other bodies necessary for the proper functioning of the Centre.

PROGRAMME ADVISORY BOARD

The Programme Advisory Board is a collegiate body which constitutes and controls the objectives of the Centre, determines the plans and principles of the Centre’s operation and evaluates the implementation of these plans. The Programme Advisory Board has up to 9 members.

1) A member of the Programme Board may be an employee of the Faculty of Letters with at least a PhD degree in humanities, having scholarly achievements in the field of children’s and young adult literature or culture.

2) The competencies of the Programme Advisory Board include:

a) defining the objectives and shaping the research policy of the Centre,

b) approving the long-term programme for the functioning and development of the Centre,

c) proposing amendments to the Rules of Procedure,

d) giving its opinion on draft amendments to the internal organisational structure of the Centre.

3) Resolutions of the Programme Advisory Board shall be adopted by a simple majority of votes.

4) Meetings of the Programme Advisory Board shall be held at least twice a year. They are convened at least two weeks in advance by the Centre’s Coordinator.

SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD

The Scientific Advisory Board is an advisory body that provides substantive support to the Programme Council.

1) The Scientific Advisory Board shall consist of persons having at least a PhD degree and being experts in the field of children’s and young adult  literature or culture.

2) The Scientific Advisory Board shall be elected for a term of office. Membership in the Board may be renewed.

3) The term of office of the Scientific Advisory Board shall be four years and shall coincide with the term of office of the university authorities.

4) The competences of the Scientific Advisory Board shall include:

a) verifying the Centre’s research objectives and policy,

b) contributing to the long-term programme of the Centre’s operation and development,

c) reviewing individual research projects of the Centre.

MEMBERS OF THE CENTRE

A member of the Centre may be an employee of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Wrocław who is involved in scientific, educational, archiving or popularizing activities related to children’s and YA literature or culture and who receives the approval of the Programme Advisory Board.

The Centre may cooperate with employees of the University of Wrocław, other higher education institutions, educational institutions and cultural institutions dealing with scientific, educational, archiving or popularizing activities related to children’s and YA literature or culture, who obtain the approval of the Programme Advisory Board. Such persons shall have the status of collaborators of the Centre.

§5 FINAL PROVISIONS

Amendments to the Centre’s Rules of Procedure shall be made by the Dean at the request of the Centre’s Coordinator or at the Dean’s own initiative.
